Green Technology, the non-profit initiative established to support public sector efforts to create clean and sustainable communities, announces the appointment of Kathleen J. McKee and Mark S. Williams, both partners at the statewide education law firm of Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost (F3), to its Summit Advisory Boards.

McKee has joined the Green California Summit and Green California Schools Summit Advisory Boards, and Williams is on the Green California Community College Summit Advisory Board. All three conferences are the major events for sustainability in schools, colleges and California government.

"In the area of sustainability, technology is moving faster than the law," says Keith Miller, President of Green Technology. "It is imperative that schools and organizations implementing alternative energy and other sustainability programs do so with the help of attorneys that are personally vested in the subject of ecological conservation. Kathleen and Mark bring this passion to the Green Technology Advisory Boards. We’re thrilled to have them involved."

McKee, Chairperson of F3's Business, Facilities, and Real Estate Practice Group, is an established presence on the California K-12 green scene, providing legal guidance to school districts such as the Irvine Unified School District, which recently implemented the largest solar project undertaken by any district in the nation.

"F3 is providing excellent legal services in support of our comprehensive roll-out and district-wide sustainability initiatives," said Irvine USD Superintendent Gwen Gross.

Williams regularly works with K-12 districts across the state on contractual issues related to their sustainability projects.  Furthermore, as chairperson of F3's Community College Practice Group, he has focused his environmental expertise at the higher education level.  Most recently he has worked with Contra Costa and Chabot Las Positas Community College Districts to prepare agreements on large-scale solar generating facilities.

"The caliber of counsel provided by the attorneys at F3 is superb, especially in this quickly-evolving area," said Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Kingtson of Chabot Las Positas Community College District.

McKee and Williams, the only attorneys appointed to the Green Technology Advisory Boards, join top government, schools and community college officials and opinion leaders in helping guide these seminal events each year. Advisory Board   Chairs include Linda Adams, CalEPA Secretary; Thomas L. Sheehy, Acting Secretary, California State and Consumer Services Agency; Timothy Simon, California Public Utilities Commissioner; and David Thorman, California State Architect.
